Just by way of an example of how true the title for this post is...take the picture to my left. I bet you didn't know that Sir Thomas More went on after his execution at the orders of the English King Henry VIII to partner with the band Cake, did you? See? The more you know...
Needless to say, the above is a total fabrication. Actually, the image to the left is a concoction of my deranged sense of humor, triggered by reading this piece by Mr. Lichens, wherein More is mentioned in the same breath as the phrase "mind like a diamond," which of course led me to a line from one of my favorite songs from this particular musical group.
Anyway, More has been a figure I enjoyed since before the days of Mr. Lichens' and my mutual alma mater. Reading of him in Belloc's books on the Reformation (both How the Reformation Happened and Characters of the Reformation) gave me an interesting impression of the man. The well-known play revolving around him did not endear him to me any less. And then there's the school. Ah...
Lest I digress - and vex certain people in the process - I'll leave off with an exhortation. Go read Mr. Lichens' post!
